In the past ten years, mindfulness in education has grown from a method of intervention and potential brief daily practice in classrooms to a methodology for building schoolwide communities of wellness, compassion, and social justice. Integration of a culture of engaged mindfulness benefits students, schools, families, and communities by promoting social-emotional health, peaceful communication, compassion, and social sustainability. It can be transformative to bring in a professional Mindfulness Consultant who is trained in both secular and spiritual contemplative practices to support the emotional, mental, ethical, and social wellbeing of all members of a school community. While each contract with The School of Mindful Arts is custom, comprehensive, and organically reflects the personality, goals, and needs of each school, it might include a combination of the above services.
